The Tortoise and the Hare

Once upon a time, a hare and a tortoise lived in a forest. The hare was very fast and always laughed at the slow tortoise.

"Let's have a race!" said the hare. "I will always beat you!"

"Okay," said the tortoise calmly.

The race began. The hare ran very fast and soon was far ahead. He decided to take a nap under a tree. "I have plenty of time," he thought.

The tortoise walked slowly but never stopped. One step at a time, he kept going and going.

When the hare woke up, he ran as fast as he could — but it was too late. The tortoise had already crossed the finish line!

"Slow and steady wins the race," said the tortoise with a smile.
